Skirting the Issue

There are so many lengths and cuts when it comes to skirts.  My favourites are the mini, pencil and high-waisted flare skirt.  While the name of the blog is A Pleasury of A-Lines and B-Lines, and I love an a-line skirt on most women, for whatever reason, I don't pull it off so well!

Mini skirts, identified by their hemline hiked above the knee, are sexy and are a great way to show the results of all those squats and lunges you've been doing.  In the winter months, minis made of heavier fabrics like tweed and corduroy, paired with knit tights are fun, warm and flirty!  For those who feel uncomfortable or self-conscious in a mini, offset the shortness of the mini with a long-sleeved blouse.

The signature slim fitting knee length pencil skirt is flattering on most people.  What makes this look so ladylike and dainty is that it hugs a woman's curves and hips, accentuating her figure.  The black pencil skirt should be a staple in every woman's closet and makes the transition from the office to evening drinks quite seamless!

The high-waisted flare skirt has a definite retro feel and has made quite the comeback Fall/Winter 2010 (think Roman Holiday).  I most love this look in the long knee length, or even below the knee cut.  Throw on a belt and pair with some cute high-heeled ankle booties and you're set!
