One our inspirations to begin A Pleasury of A-Lines and B-Lines, is local fashion designers. We want to not only blog about fashion and style, but, to also be a vessel to promote the local artistry of fashion designers here in our city. One noteworthy designer that comes to mind is Sid Neigum. Sid Neigum moved from Drayton Valley to Edmonton in 2008, and quickly became synonymous with fashion and received the Emerging Designer Award for the Spring 2010 season at Edmonton Fashion Week. Sid also completed an internship under well known designer, Yigal Azrouel. How amazing is that!!
At The Gentle Fawn Fashion show last Thursday night, we had the pleasure to meet his lovely girlfriend, Katy. What a total sweetheart (check out our November 12th post and she is in the first pic, second from the left)! She let us know that she and Sid were just in Vancouver for fashion week (www.vanfashionweek.com) where he featured his Spring and Summer 2011 collection. Katy added that she will continue to visit him in lovely New York City (he is currently attending the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT), and gave us the info to view his current line.
Let me just say, pure genius! I love his use of fabrics, leather and wool, as it gives the clothes a modern, industrial look perfectly balanced with softness. To view Sid Neigum's latest collection check out www.sidneigum.com and download his lookbook SS11. Stacey and I will keep you posted on the continued rise of this amazing talent and we are stoked to see what he will come up with next!! Click on the image below to view a video of his Fall/Winter 2010 Collection. Brilliant!!!
